5th-12th Gardening & Homesteading

In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of gardening and homesteading through age-appropriate, hands-on experiences. From seed to harvest, students will explore the science, sustainability, and satisfaction of growing their own food and developing self-reliance skills. Lessons will incorporate basic botany, soil science, composting, natural pest control, animal care, food preservation, and simple DIY homesteading projects.

Students will learn to maintain their own garden plots or containers, and practice essential skills such as planning, planting, observing, journaling, harvesting, and creating with natural materials. This class promotes responsibility, environmental stewardship, and practical life skills.
